Tell me about yourself, I can’t wait for the audience to know you the way I do, what do you like to do in your free time and what is one of your hobbies?
Hi Ladies! My name is Angela Wells. I am married to my sweet, fine hubby Orson Wells! (yes…that’s his real name) ☺ I am a Contemporary Christian Artist and Praise and Worship Leader. I write for a National Christian Magazine for women called WHOA Women Magazine, and I also teach students on the subject of Praise and Worship at The Fellowship Bible College. In my free time, I love to relax at home with my gorgeous husband, I love to go shopping of course, I mean shopping therapy is the best right!!! (LOL) and I enjoy spending quality time with my precious family and friends. One of my hobbies is baking cakes and bread!
What are the three things that are most important to you?
My Lord and savior Jesus Christ, my sweet family&friends, and community service.
Do you think it’s important to set goals and dream big dreams?
I think it is so important and vital to set goals for your life and dream big dreams. Many times in life we have dreams, big and small in our hearts and goals we want to accomplish, but sometimes fear, busyness, and procrastination set in and we shrink back from our dreams and goals. I love what a dear friend use to say is that “Sometime Life.. will knock the Life out of you!” But Michelle, it is so important to keep our dreams, no matter what size and goals alive! I encourage women to slow down and take a moment to refresh the foundation of your dreams, being certain, being excited and focused. Move forward boldly in what God has placed in your heart.
What is your vision for your future?
To continue to grow, learn and inspire others and be the best wife, daughter, friend, sister, mentor and help as many people as I possibly can. Continue to share and lift up the Name of Jesus! I want to encourage and have a positive impact with those I come in contact with and live a life of integrity, joy, and love!
What were the defining moments in your life that helped you realize you’re calling and potential to change the world for the better?
One defining moment in my life was in college, when I suffered from severe tonsillitis and had to have them urgently removed. The doctor was not aware that I was a vocalist and had to remove some of my vocal chords to remove all of the infection. Waking up from that surgery, knowing that I may never sing again was very defining and I began to cry out to God and totally trust Him to heal and restore my voice. My grandmother taught me during that time to “trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean not on my own understanding.” It helped me realize my calling, that my voice is not for me, but to uplift and inspire others through song.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
Wow!! My amazing husband, who is my best friend and biggest encourager. He inspires, makes me laugh and encourages me to be all that God has created me to be. Also, my sweet Mommy! ☺
What does being a beauty queen mean to you?
Awww, being a beauty queen is such an honor and so sweet. I am thankful to be given this opportunity to share my heart and passions with beauty queens from all over!!! It’s really awesome to see women come together, encourage and inspire one another to live a life full of promise, live in the moment, and enjoy the journey!
What inspires you to live with passion every single day?
My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family and friends, being a light to help, support and show compassion to others.
What is a quote or saying that you live by?
Jer. 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Through the ups and downs of your life what is the greatest lesson that you have learned?
In my life, I have had many ups and many downs and the greatest lesson I have learned from my grandmother is to trust in the Lord with all of my heart and lean NOT on my own understanding, but in all of my ways acknowledge Christ and He will direct my path. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
What advice would you give the beauty queens reading this interview about following their dreams?
I encourage all of the beauty queens reading to “Listen to Your Heart Sing!!”
- Schedule some time to experience your dream. For example, if you want to be a better artist, find an art show to attend. If you want to publish a book, go to a reading of a published author. Get a taste of what your life might feel like once you are living in your dream by being around those who are living it already.
- Have good role models/mentors around to help you achieve your dream. Talk to a few friends or mentors and get their input on what your strengths and limitations are as it relates to your dream.
- Set a short term goal for educating yourself in your dream. No matter how experienced I am in an area, I am always learning. Keep growing, keep learning and believe me, you will get closer and closer to your dreams coming true.
- Have compassion on yourself! As women, we can be really hard and critical on ourselves. We tend to give everyone else a 2nd, 3rd and even 4th chance but not ourselves. Allow yourself room to be you. Believe in yourself and believe that you deserve to be successful in your hearts dreams. Enjoy the journey, enjoy the process and let God help you succeed in life.
I Believe In You!
