Rachel Joy Knight, Beauty Queen Of The Week!

Beauty Queen of the week

Tell me about yourself, I can’t wait for the audience to know you the way I do, what do you like to do in your free time and what is one of your hobbies?

My Bio (About Me)

At the age of fourteen Rachel would begin the start of her journey in ministry. Marked by the tragic and sudden loss of her earthly father, her source of hope became her Heavenly Father. Upon committing her life Christ she began learning by serving others.

As a young Christian, she enveloped herself in ministerial opportunity and outreach. She served as a children’s pastor and youth leader at her local church in Dallas,TX. She began evangelizing at her school and in the streets. She led prayer groups. Perhaps her greatest desire was to reach out to the hurting to show them the hope that Christ had given her. She quickly realized her life was not her own.

Full of fire, she sought knowledge of God’s Word to guide the flame. At twenty she would attend Bible School and soon began traveling with her mentor in ministry to further her experience and reach.

At the age of twenty-three Rachel met her husband Bradley, whom she has been married to for five years. Together they have worked for multiple ministries. Their love for each other is matched by their love for their generation and a deep desire to show them the source of all Love, Jesus Christ. God blessed them with their first child, due July 2016.

Rachel is currently on staff with New Destiny Christian Center/Paula White Ministries out of Orlando Florida. She is completing her Bachelors degree in Religion and Cultural Studies at the University of Central Florida. Though her experiences have been great and varied, she knows her work is just beginning.

In my free time I love to pour myself into music (worship). I write worship songs. I play the piano and just enough guitar to write songs. I would love to learn the drums! I also enjoy doing my kid’s show for DTV. It airs in Africa. I love creating  the show and working with children. All creative outlets are hobbies for me.

What are the three things that are most important to you?

My life in Christ, My Family, And Purpose

Do you think it’s important to set goals and dream big dream?

Yes very important! Since the age of 16, I have been writing life goals and journaling. Many things that have come to pass in my life are a direct result of setting those goals and not giving up.

What is your vision for your future?

The excitement of being a mother to a beautiful baby girl is an overwhelmingly beautiful responsibility God has blessed me with. Being the best mother and wife possible is always a part of my future plans.

I am looking into starting a non-profit that focuses on issues facing young women in our society. I have a strong connection with young women and a strong desire to help them navigate their lives.

My passion for music and writing worship is a part of my future as well.

When did you know you were called to do this?

At the age of 16, I had been through one of the most difficult times in my life, when I lost my father. I saw the realities of this life and how the enemy does not play fair. I rededicated my life to the Lord and I began serving Him. I answered the call.

What were the defining moments in your life that helps you realize you’re calling and potential to change the world for the better?

The trials I experienced in my adolescence had a profound impact on me. The hardships I experienced were a catalyst to bringing me to my identity in Christ.

One of my favorite verses is in Isaiah 48:10 “See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction”.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

I am greatly inspired by those who sacrifice for others. Jesus Christ is deeply inspiring. People often say that, but that is so for good reason. There is no greater pattern for living than the life of Christ. Sorting through my strengths and working on my weaknesses through the lens of the Gospel is the only stable approach to life I have found.

Who has influenced you the most and what is the greatest lesson you learned from them?

I don’t have just one person in my life. I have many people in my life that I can look to and see how they have led a life for Christ. The kind of mother, leader, and mentor the person has become influences how much I listen to them. I take all that in and use their life as an example to mine. I make an effort to learn from the good and the bad. It’s important for people to remember to learn from both and to not be either cynical or idolizing when they approach individuals as mentors.

What does being a beauty queen mean to you?

Letting the light of Christ shine in your life. So when people look at you on the outside the Love and Glory of Christ on the inside shines through. External beauty is fleeting. There will always be someone more beautiful than me. Being comfortable with myself, my face, my body is important. Because our culture is fueled by image, it is easy to be exhausted and broke from comparison and pursuit of a perfect image that doesn’t exist. So being beautiful is a whole package, inside and out.

What inspires you to live with passion every single day?

The empowerment of the Holy Spirit to live according to the Gospel empowers me. I believe this source helps me to see injustice and pain as signs that there is work to be done. Since I see them daily, I awake with renewed passion daily.

How do you use that passion to make your dreams come true?

Passion is linked to desire. Your desires, when tempered by spiritualty, are directly connected to the purpose that God has for you. If you do not have passion it is very hard to keep any kind of drive to achieve that purpose. Fulfilling purpose requires a passion that is renewed daily, which in turn requires an eternal source. The only lasting source is faith.

What is a quote or saying that you live by?

The Holy Spirit spoke this to me one night in a hotel room. I was traveling at a low point in my life. It was this saying that hit my spirit that night.

The revelation of Christ changes the reality of your life.

I live by this because so many times in life the reality that you are experiencing is not God’s plan for you. But when revelation comes, it cause’s you to shift your thinking which creates an outward change.

Through the ups and downs of your life what is the greatest lesson that you have learned?

Life is too short to stay stuck in tragedy. God can empower you towards using your experiences to help others, if only you allow Him.

What advice would you give the beauty queens reading this interview about following their dreams?

There is a process to purpose. Most of the time life will not look like what you imagined it to be in your head. Find a way to reach for what is in your head and heart, while appreciating what is in your hand. Don’t give up. Stay connected to people who are an example to you and your purpose.

Habakkuk 2:2

Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.

Keep it before you daily.

Trust in the lord that his ways are not ours and they are so much better then ours.

(Isaiah 55:8-9)

Love In Christ,
