Tell me about yourself, I can’t wait for the audience to know you the way I do, what do you like to do in your free time and what is one of your hobbies?
First and foremost I am a mom to 3 boys and wife to a very very patient husband! Free time is not technically ‘free time” Between fishing, the deer lease, sports and school any free time is usually spent with friends and family who we have also spent time with hunting, fishing, at sporting events. Ha Ha! I enjoy a Full house being surrounded by the ones we care about!
What are the three things that are most important to you?
Easy- Faith, Family and Friends
Do you think it’s important to set goals and dream big dream?
OH YES! The feeling of setting a goal then achieving it is unmatched. After you smash a goal then make another and can see not only your success but growth as person is a very fulfilling thing.
What is your vision for your future?
I am so blessed to have a happy healthy family and hope that road continues. For the shop I want to continue to grow and reach others that have not found us. Maybe in a few years open a second shop. I have recently launched Wardrobe Consulting with Magnolia Mey and am very excited to see how that grows.
When did you know you were called to do this?
In college this was a thought but then as life happens and sports I was not ready to give up the athletic life and went into coaching.
What were the defining moments in your life that helps you realize you’re calling and potential to change the world for the better?
About 6 years ago. I was no longer happy as a teacher/coach and wanted to stay home to raise my sons. I visited the adorable Ruthie Grace Boutique in Montgomery with a friend and was just Blown away how cute and cozy it was. Tara the owner was not a fashion merchandising major, but had seamlessly created a beautiful boutique. I thought “Hmmm. I am a kinesiology major and can do this!” I actually think my coaching background has a lot to do with my success in the shop so everything works out for a reason! We had moved to Huntsville and after my kids were in school the plan was to open a boutique, after 4 years I was ready so we went for it.
Who is your greatest inspiration?
Easy – My Mom! She is beyond amazing! Her work ethic, capacity for love and encouragement, plus she is basically the most bad (a**) woman ever. (I honestly cannot find another way to say that I am so sorry!) She is fierce and loving, and is there for me no matter what.
Who has influenced you the most and what is the greatest lesson you learned from them? Again – My mom!
She had me at 16, went on to get her GED, then degree for SHSU, then stayed home with my siblings. After joining Brazos Valley Schools credit union as a manager she is NOW the CEO! She never made excuses or gave up!
What does being a beauty queen mean to you?
I think to be a beauty queen you have to be happy with the NOW. Not that the NOW is ever perfect but being Happy with where you are, your family, health and understanding everyone’s normal is different. I am happy with my crazy hectic life. I honestly don’t know what I would do otherwise.
What inspires you to live with passion every single day?
Everyday is a Great Day! Being upset and unhappy is such a waste of time and energy! I think living each day with excitement makes this ride of Life just that much better.
How do you use that passion to make your dreams come true?
Enthusiasm is contagious. When people see and feel your enthusiasm for whatever you are doing they want to be apart of that. I feel that the shop has taken people in, shoppers, sales reps, employees and made them apart of something. Myself included!
What is a quote or saying that you live by?
You can’t get anything done when you are sleeping.
Through the ups and downs of your life what is the greatest lesson that you have learned?
Ride the waves! Sometimes they are awesome and the ride is a blast and sometimes they are calm and life slows down. Roll with it because it is always an awesome ride, just different.
What advice would you give the beauty queens reading this interview about following their dreams?
Embrace your life now. Whatever season you are in, another is around the corner and that one will have good and bad. No matter what or who you see, nobody is perfect. Some just hide their crazy better.
